Definition: Self-Star Property (Self-*)

By Jack Krupansky

A self-star property (self-*) is a property of an entity such as self-awareness, self-organization, self-configuration, self-optimization, self-management, self-diagnosis, self-correction, and self-repair which enables the entity to reflect and act on itself. The intention is that an entity be able to detect and recover from both predictable and unexpected problems and changes in its environment, with minimal if not any intervention by either a user or a developer.
