These are web resources that we believe are reasonably current (or of significant historical value) for software agent technology. I apologize for the fact that this list is in simple reverse chronological order (the order that I added to the list), but that's less work for me and does make it easier to find what's new. Ultimately the list should be a relational database that can be sorted by selected categories. Or maybe I should say that ultimately it should be embodied in a semantic web/grid that can be traversed by software agents to locate resources of interest.

- Control of Agent Based Systems (CoABS) - DARPA program to develop a prototype “agent grid” as an infrastructure for the run-time integration of heterogeneous multi-agent and legacy systems
- D'Agents - agents at Dartmouth College.
- Open Agent Architecture (OAA) - a framework from SRI International for integrating a community of heterogeneous software agents in a distributed environment.
- Cognitive Agent Architecture (Cougaar) - a Java-based architecture for the construction of large-scale distributed agent-based applications.
- The DARX Project - a framework for building applications (including multi-agent systems) that provide adaptive fault tolerance.

- Object Management Group (OMG) Agent Platform Special Interest Group - mission includes extending the OMG Object Management Architecture (OMA) to better support agent technology.
- DARPA Agent Markup Language (DAML) - provides a rich set of constructs with which to create ontologies and to markup information so that it is machine readable and understandable.
- living systems AG and living agents runtime system (LARS) - offers collaborative commerce and logistic solutions based on agent technology with 4 years and over 30 projects of experience in developing business solutions based on the living agents runtime system (LARS).
Heikki Helin's Bibliography on Software Agents (actual bibliography)- an extremely detailed bibliography (2,480 entries) including papers as well as web pages.
- Babak Esfandiari's online course on Software Agents - after this course, students should be able to: build simple agents and multi-agent systems using basic AI concepts and read and understand most of the research material in the field of software agents.
- Americas School on Agents and Mulitagent Systems (University of Southern California) - A one-week intensive course that provide a systematic introduction to basic theories and systems in the agents arena. Include tutorials panels, roundtable discussions, practical demonstrations, "agent tours" and student posters sessions.
- ebiquity.org - UMBC mobile computing research group portal that focuses on tools, ideas and news
of interest to researchers involved in mobile, wireless and pervasive computing, much of it with an AI or intelligent agents spin.- JADE-LEAP - a Lightweight Extensible Agent Platform produced by the LEAP consortium. A "small footprint" FIPA-compliant agent platform. Adopts and improves parts of JADE, the Java Agent DEvelopment framework.
The MIT Robust Open Multi-Agent Systems (ROMA) Research Group - devoted to learning how to develop multi-agent systems for open contexts where the constituent agents can come from anywhere, may be buggy or even malicious, and must run in dynamic and potentially failure-prone environments.
- Agent-Based Software Engineering - an effort by Professor Nick Jennings, Professor Mike Wooldridge, Dr Franco Zambonelli, and Stefan Bussmann.
- Agentcities - a new initiative aiming to build a worldwide, publicly accessible, test bed for the deployment of dynamic, composable, agent based services.
- AgentLink - coordinates research and development activities in the area of agent-based computer systems on behalf of the European Commision. Site is coordinated by the Department of Electronics and Computer Science, University of Southampton.
- Nick Jennings - Professor in the Department of Electronics and Computer Science at Southampton University where he carries out basic and applied research in agent-based computing.

- UDDI (Universal Description, Discovery and Integration) - a project that creates a platform-independent, open framework for describing services, discovering businesses, and integrating business services using the Internet, as well as an operational registry that is available today.
- "Agent: I don’t think it means, what you think it means" - paper by Joseph Reagle of the Harvard Law School that deals with questions regarding the legitimacy and legal standing of computer-based agreements and argues that a more explicit understanding of the terms "agent" and "proxy" is necessary to properly address the convergence of technical and legal issues related to electronic commerce.
- BotSpot - educates you about Bots and Intelligent Agents, alerts you to the latest Bots and Intelligent Agents on the Internet, and allows you to actually implement a Bot or Intelligent Agent.
- FIPA (Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents) - a non-profit organization aimed at producing standards for the interoperation of heterogeneous software agents.
- "Is it an Agent, or just a Program?: A Taxonomy for Autonomous Agents" - classic paper by Stan Franklin and Art Graesser.
- JATLite (Java Agent Template, Lite) - a package of programs written in Java that allow users to quickly create software agents that communicate over the Internet using KQML.
- KQML (Knowledge Query and Manipulation Language) - a language and protocol for exchanging information and knowledge.
- DARPA ITO ( Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency Information Technology Office) - Search for latest "sponsored" research on agents.
- Lime: Linda in a Mobile Environment - a Java-based middleware which provides a coordination layer that can be used to design applications which exhibit either logical or physical mobility---or both.
- uCode - A Mobile Code Toolkit - a Java API that provides a minimal set of primitives to support mobility of code and state (i.e., Java classes and objects).
- Global Grid Forum (GGF) - Wide-area distributed computing, or "grid" technologies, provide the foundation to utilize the global Internet to build distributed computing and communications infrastructures.
- UMBC AgentWeb and UMBC AgentNews - sign up for their electronic newsletter.
- AgentBuilder - an integrated tool suite for constructing intelligent software agents. Agents constructed using AgentBuilder communicate using the Knowledge Query and Manipulation Language (KQML). All components are implemented in Java.
- Mozart - an advanced development platform for intelligent, distributed applications based on the Oz language, which supports declarative programming, object-oriented programming, constraint programming, and concurrency as part of a coherent whole.
- Enterprise Agent Server from VitalContact - a new class of Java software that uses Business Process Agents (BPAs) to autonomously complete complex tasks within and among enterprise applications, across diverse data sources, and among multiple users in accordance with pre-defined business processes defined using a proprietary XML-based vocabulary called AgentML™ that allows developers to easily deploy BPAs without any low-level programming.
